Dear Friends of James Gilchrist & Julie Sherwood,
Welcome to our first INTERNATIONAL NEWSLETTER! Wherever Julie and I imagined we'd be performing this month back in 2006, you can bet it wasn't Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! It just goes to show you that with new beginnings come new opportunities and we hope that as the first month of 2008 slips away, YOU are enjoying them as well.
Before we get to the shows we'd like to say how disappointed we are that John Edwards has opted to end his campaign for the democratic candidacy and the presidency today. We've been staunch supporters of John and his proposals to end poverty, his vow to release the stranglehold special interest groups have on Washington, and his plan to provide universal healthcare. Regardless of our personal political views we appreciate the value strong candidates bring to the democratic process and wish John all the best as he continues to work in support of the american people and the political changes for which he has always stood. Farewell John!
We'll be in Virginia this weekend, enjoying some quality time with the folks at Esoterica (hi Lilly!) and performing both as part of their 5th Annual Brigid's Faire all-day Music Festival on Saturday and as a prequel to the Open Circle celebration for Imbolc on Friday night. So if you are local to the Leesburg area be sure to check out our show(s) and these two special events! Friday night the show starts at 7 pm and on Saturday we go on at 2:15 pm. The next two weekends in February we'll be acting in our "musical supporting roles" for the celebrations at Creative Light. We always enjoy it when our friends get to experience this wonderful spiritual center - we hope you'll drop by for an inspirational "kick in the butt" from Rev. Loretta Brooks and CL's wonderful cast of uplifting characters. The gatherings have been steadily growing in size and energy! Visit www.creativelight.org for info/directions.
The date was Saturday, April 16th, 2005 - the last time the folk/rock/world band Blue Knight performed at Uncommon Grounds in Boonton, NJ. On that occasion, the food & drink was flowin', the audience was groovin' and the band true to form was putting out waves of "feel good" to all and sundry in attendance. We LOVED playing the Buddha Lounge, that purple haven of soft couches, low tables, and draping tapestries always with a hint of "aromatherapy" in the background to sooth the senses. But alas, Uncommon Grounds was forced to give up their longtime home in northern NJ when the owners of the property refused to renew Anne & Lydia's lease in favor of turning that unique stress respite into...a parking lot. You'd think the story would end there, wouldn't you? Undaunted, the intrepid aromatherapy bar/restaurateurs relocated to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They gained that romantic locale, brought culture to the region and procured a liquor license to boot! Now the natives get to enjoy the good food, great atmosphere and tasty drinks to be had at Uncommon Grounds...and WE get to go to Mexico! Thank you Anne & Lydia for remembering us and inviting us to play in the sun for 10 days at your new locale! We can't wait to see you!!! Show times are 8:30 pm on Sunday, Feb. 24th and Saturday, March 1st.
